"WOW, THAT SHOWER FELT great," Edna said, walking down the hall and towards the living area.

Gertie smiled at her wife and reclined back in her chair. "It sure does feel good to be clean," Gertie commented. "And knowing that I can sleep in my own bed tonight is even better."

"I knew that you would be excited about that," Edna smiled back. "I'll bet after one-night sleeping in a hole, you feel pampered sleeping at home."

"I do," Gertie replied. "And speaking of pampered..." Gertie said, directing her attention over to the cat that was eating food out of one of Edna's best dinner bowls.

"Well, don't you think that he deserves it?" Edna questioned. "I can't imagine what he has been through. He was probably about to be one of Emily's new designer scarves."

"Yeah, that woman is something else," Gertie said, shaking her head. "I've heard of people on television that wear furs and such, but I have never seen anyone wear a cat."

"I know," Edna said, walking across the room as a knock sounded at their door. "That must be Theodore," she replied. "I haven't even done my hair yet."

"I'll get it," Gertie told her wife, directing Edna to go back down the hall and comb her hair. "You go finish cleaning up. I'll let him in. Besides, I really want to see what his take is on this Emily."

"Okay," Edna said, speeding down the hall. "Let him know that I won't be long, and that dinner is in the oven."

"Alright," Gertie said, walking to the door. She was excited to see Theodore, because she knew that if anyone could gauge Emily's personality at this point, it would be him, and she wondered if he had seen anything that might solidify their case on Emily's crimes. Gertie unlocked the door as the knocking increased. "Geez, Theodore," she began to say as she swung the door open, but she was wildly surprised when she found herself face to face with Emily instead.

"Hello, Mrs. Simmons," Emily said, looking at Gertie closely.

"Hello," Gertie replied, feeling her chest tighten as she wondered why the woman was at her house. Had she seen them leave? Had she known the whole time that Edna and Gertie had dug up her yard? Did she know that they knew about her crimes? "What brings you here, Emily?" Gertie finally blurted out, stilling her thoughts.

Emily hesitated a moment, looking down at a stack of paper in her hands. Gertie eyed the top paper, noticing the picture of the gray cat that they had rescued only hours ago from the woman's house and waited for Emily to speak. "I was wondering if you could call around town to see if anyone has seen my cat," Emily finally said. "I know that you know everyone in town, and I need to find him. You haven't by chance seen him, have you?"

"No," Gertie grumbled. "But you sure lose a lot of cats," Gertie retorted, looking closely at the other woman. "Are you sure
